During my internship I completed over 13 different rotations including an acute care clinical rotation at Harbor Hospital, Foodservice at the Baltimore VA and Loch Raven Long term care facility, community with Maryland SNAP-Ed and a technology rotation with the Nutrition Education, Training and Technical Assistance branch of the Food and Nutrition Service.

In addition to rotations, UMD has given all of us the opportunity to attend several joint class days with other interns in the Maryland-DC area as well as a series of technology and informatics classes. We spent a day with WIC learning about infant and maternal health, a day at NIH learning about research and military nutrition, attended the Maryland Dietitians in Health Care Communities Spring workshop where we participated in a poster presentation and gave a formal presentation on the importance of nutrition informatics as well as many others.

During my internship I have the opportunity to have my work published by the International Food Information Council, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics The Feed, Food & Nutrition Magazine, the University of Maryland Dining Services and Harbor Hospital’s The Compass, Week of March 12, 2018.

In addition, I had the chance to present a research project on Iron and Iron deficiency anemia (that began with the poster I developed at College Dining) at three conferences across Maryland and DC including MD DHCC, DC MAND and the University of Maryland Food and Nutrition Department Poster Day.

In February, I was asked to speak for a National Eating Disorder Awareness event hosted by the Lane 9 Project – a female athlete triad awareness and social group. My talk,  entitled Lane 9 Project – National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is also available in podcast format below.
